  For example:  The city of  Petra  in the Hashemite kingdom of Jordan is a mysterious city that was hand carved  out of the rock of a desert mountain by the Nabataeans, a nomadic tribe. It once had a population of about 20,000 and was a busy commercial center. It is a marvel of ancient engeneering that attracts a lot of tourism to the Middle East country of Jordan.
